Site & Soil: Choose a humid growing spot with warm temperatures (65-75° F) and partial shade
(full sun causes severe leaf burn). Never allow the temperature to drop below 60° F.  From April
through October, water to keep soil moist but not soggy. Since alocasia requires a winter resting
period,water infrequently from November through March. (If leaves begin to drop during winter,
slightly increase watering.) To avoid root and rhizome rot, do not overwater when temperatures
fall below 65° F.
Fertilizer: From May through August, feed once every two weeks with a well-balanced,
liquid fertilizer for houseplants.
Repotting: It is best to wait at least one season before transplanting. To repot, gently remove
the plant from the grower’s pot, loosen the soil around the roots, and plant in a container with
well-draining soil. (Use potting soil or a mixture of sphagnum moss, peat moss, leaf mold, and
horticultural charcoal.) Water immediately. Repot every one to two years in a container with a
diameter increase of two inches.
Pests: If mites appear, spray front and back of leaves with soapy water or insecticidal soap.
