St.
Petersburg Glass Butterflies
Enjoy a unique and ethereal
piece of Russian art glass.
Glass artisans working in
St. Petersburg, Russia, use centuries old lamp work techniques to form
these expressive glass butterflies entirely by hand, without the use of
molds. Many cultures and religious traditions regard butterflies as symbols
of the soul, and in one Russian dialect, the word for butterfly, dushichka,
is derived from the word for soul—dusha. With their glittering wings and
delicate bodies, these handcrafted creatures have an ephemeral individuality
that highlights their spiritual symbolism. Each handmade sculpture is unique
and may vary slightly. 4 1/2'' wingspan, 2 1/2''D. |
