Striped Torch
GUZMANIA MONOSTACHIA 

Type: Tropical, house plant
Family: Bromeliaceae (pineapple)
Origin: S. Florida to n. S. America
Bloom season: blooms several months
Flower colors: red, orange
Height: 12 " tall; 24" wide
Temp:  75 degrees is required for the plant to flower.
Light:  High light for flowers to develop but medium light is sufficient after that. Direct sunlight 
should be avoided except during winter months.
Water: Keep fairly moist in summer, but on the dry side in winter. 
Humidity: Not tolerant of dry air. May cause browning of leaf tips. Mist regularly to prevent this.
Pests: Sometimes mealy bugs and greenflies can be a problem.
