ORNAMENTAL PEPPER
Type: tender perennial grown as annual
Bloom season: produces fruit from summer to fall
Height & Spread: 10 inches tall; 10 inches wide
Site & Soil: full sun; average soil, keep on the dry side
Special interest: fruit is edible but very hot; member of the nightshade family, same species as the garden pepper
Selected species: 'Treasure Red' grows 8" tall with conical fruit that turns from white to  bright red.

ORNAMENTAL PEPPER
Type: Annual, perennial 
Bloom season:  Blooms in spring with new foliage of bright purple, followed by purple and white blooms on purple stems for several weeks. After the blooms pass,  the dark purple peppers  begin maturing to fire engine red. 
Height & Spread: 10 to 14 inches tall and 8 to 10 inches wide, bushy plant
Site & Soil: full sun;  well-drained soil
Special interest:  Fruit is edible. Leaves are Purple. Thrives in heat, setting fruit during the hot summer months and outlasting the flowering annuals for a late season color show. Nightshade family.
